Machinima Page Added!

Henrycopter House

Henrycopter House

What it says! I’ve put aside a page so you can easily find any machinima I make on the places I visit, just click on the menu at the top of the site.

I can’t do that many machinima, they are very time consuming, but they are fun. Now I’ve finished the one on A Petrovsky Flux, maybe I’ll have time to get back out on the grid. 🙂

I’d hate to make you read a post without a picture, so here’s a still I snapped in A Petrovsky Flux while I was there.

Ebbe Caught Me Napping!

Another one of Strawberry Singh’s Blog Meme’s and an excuse to pretend to mix with the famous – even if they are cut-outs. For those of you who don’t know, Ebbe Altberg is the new CEO of Linden Labs and his avatar is Ebbe Linden. He’s been seen out and about on the grid and seems to be quite visual, he even posts on Twitter. I don’t do social media at all (read my “About” page and see why), but I am assured he’s there and Tweeting. Whatever that is. Anyway …

Ebbe Caught Me Napping

Ebbe Caught Me Napping

The meme calls for a picture with Flat Ebbe, a construction of Berry’s from one of her pictures. If, after you see my effort, you can’t resist carrying around your very own Ebbe, then you can get one from Berry’s marketplace. He’s free. Berry also challenged us to list three comments we would like to make to Ebbe if we got to do so, so here are mine.

1. Please reassure me that mesh will not take over the metaverse. It’s fabulous, but for those of us that don’t want to look like everyone else and want as much flexibility as possible to change our avatar, we need sculpties and prims. Sorry, fitted mesh does not do it. I don’t want to be a human that fits into one of five boxes that you can mess with a bit. In fact, I don’t want to be a human at all.

2. Change is often good, once you get used to it. However, it would be really great if some of the things we already had in place were fixed or improved. I don’t use the Linden Labs viewer because it does not offer the features I rely on to modify and build, and it’s geared towards meet and greet more than anything (I loathe and despise the Linden Viewer’s chat box).  I’m not alone in choosing a third party viewer for this reason. Couldn’t you sneak in a few things for the older resident, so we’re more inclined to support the standard viewer?

3. I’m with Berry on better marketing for Second Life. It’s not just the sex aspect, it’s just people’s assumption that you are stupid if you play Second Life. The more that can get out in the media about its varying educational aspects and truly stunning creations, the better. I am blown away daily by what people can do on here.

The picture was taken at Armenelos, in the Calas Galadron collection of SIMS.

Bridge for Sighs

Bridge for Sighs

If you like romance and natural beauty, then you’ll like Imaginaria. From the old-world lighthouse where you land to the countless bridges, seating, nooks and crannies all around the SIM, you’ll find somewhere to snuggle your sweetie. Each possible seating location is well thought out with a surprising variety of sits for both singles and couples, so you can find that perfect pose if you like photography – as well as find the perfect pose for a sunset kiss.

The vistas are stunning. You will find landscapes to test your SL lens and little corners for close-ups that will make you smile. If it is possible for a virtual location to have an ambience you can feel, then Imaginaria has one that’s light, welcoming and romantic as well as peaceful.

Guardian Gates

Guardian Gates

Find a great windlight even if you are only exploring and watch the sea sparkle in the distance as you wander through the lush grass and flowers. Change the world to gold and watch as a beautiful place is transformed into something quite different, but still beautiful – or add moonlight and see it again, totally different.

SL is escapism and I would recommend Imaginaria as a great place to escape – as well as a great place to get out your SL camera, play with your settings and fill up your Flickr or blog.

Paradiso LZ

Landing Zone

If you’ve seen my Flickr, you’ll know I do love this SIM (there are a couple more pictures on there, too). It’s so beautiful, even though some of the beauty comes from broken things. A whole lot comes from flowers, though .. if you’ve got hayfever, this probably isn’t somewhere you’ll want to visit.

When you land (unless it’s changed again) you’ll see an umbrella and in front of you a white door, standing all on its own. The door will take you to another world, and I suggest you go through it before you become entranced by the rest of the SIM and forget to look. Oh, you may well end up forgetting the rest of the SIM if you go through, too – so pick your poison.

The Grotto

The Grotto

Through the doorway is the most incredible grotto, full of water that’s reminiscent of places such as the Carribean and the Maldives. Hey, I’ve seen pictures, I know what they look like from those! There are statues and flowers and trees and gazebos and flowers and floating islands and flowers. Did I mention flowers? You can get an idea of scale by looking at the picture. The arrow is, not surprisingly, pointing to me. I’m short, but I’m not a Petite so …

When you’re done soaking up the beauty through the door, come back out and wander the sea. Little islands with strange statues and seating, half-ruined houses … all manner of wonderful things to explore and the whole SIM is an SL Photographer’s dream.

Oh, in case you wondered, you can walk on water at Paradiso. If nothing else, visit Paradiso to impress your friends without the aid of a HUD.

Second Life Dancing

I’m a big fan of Strawberry Singh and I guess it’s reading her stuff that made me start a blog. Keeps me out of mischief, if nothing else. She’s a great photographer and she has a weekly “Meme” for other Second Life bloggers. Well, now I’m one, so here’s my contribution, which is on my Flickr. It’s short, as it needs to be, which is a shame because the track is so catchy.

As for the questions:

1. The dance is called Angie 16, and it’s free from Humanoid on Marketplace. They offer great dances, but as I’m an invisible (as much as possible) Alt, I don’t exactly need them. I did go out and check Humanoid’s store – well worth a look for any Second Life dancer.

2. My Primary does dance on occasions and is, like Berry, a fan of Animazoo‘s Belly Dances, and is also quite taken with some from Ministry of Motion and Abranimations. Yeah, she’s mostly old-school.

3. No, in general I don’t dance in Second Life, except in my home with my husband using our Intan (couples dance machine). When I do dance like this, the cuddlier and more romantic the better, although I love a good Tango.

4. No, I’m not a good dancer in the real world and no, I don’t dance. With a real life figure like mine, there is a genuine possibility of earth tremors should I try. You think I look like my Second Life human? Aww, bless. No, actually.
